Books Become Part Of The Path.
The Library exists to preserve, organize, and pass forward the ideas behind Alan Baker’s philosophy, teaching, coaching, martial arts, leadership, and personal development work.
Every title gives the reader a way to continue the work beyond a class, seminar, coaching session, or conversation. The goal is not simply to collect information. The goal is to study, reflect, apply, and become more capable through repeated exposure to stronger ideas.

From The Founder
A Personal Note
For nearly five decades I have studied martial arts, self-protection, leadership, coaching, teaching, and personal development. Along the way I discovered something that changed the direction of my work. The techniques were never the destination. They were simply one of the vehicles that taught me how to think differently.
That realization eventually became the foundation of the Capability Academy. Every book in this Library represents another attempt to organize what I have learned into something useful, practical, and worth passing forward. My hope is not that you simply read these books once. My hope is that you return to them, challenge them, write in them, question them, and allow them to shape the way you think and live.
Study with intention. Reflect with honesty. Live what you learn. Pass something worthwhile forward.
Capability is not built by collecting information. It is built by applying it. If these books help you become a little more thoughtful, a little more disciplined, a little more capable, then they have fulfilled their purpose.
